Are you looking for Used Metal Stamping Presses or as some say, a punch press? Buying a press can be a large investment and many brands are available. For example, brands like Minster, Verson, Clearing, Bliss, Danly, Komatsu, Aida, Stamtec and more. Of course there are also many types of presses available too, such as; High Speed Presses, Straight Side Presses, Hydraulic Presses, Molding Presses, OBI Presses, Gap Presses.
Other machines that are commonly bought and sold with presses are feed line equipment. Used coil cradles, feed lines, straighteners, uncoilers, coil handlers, coil flippers and so on.
What type of press you decide upon really depends up your application. Most manufacturers either have on staff or retain a manufacturing engineer. The will look at what you stamping needs are and assign what bed size, capacity, stroke, shut height, cushions or no cushions, windows, pit mounted or floor standing, strokes per minute (SPM) and so on. The tonnage of capacity is where most people start looking. Machines from 200 Tons, 300 Tons, 400 Tons, 500 Tons, 600 Tons, 700 Tons, 800 Tons, 1,000 Tons, 1,500 Tons and 2,000 Tons are common sizes for straight side mechanical presses, gap frame, hydraulic and some OBI. OBI versions can also be much smaller, such as; 50 Ton, 100 Ton, 150 Ton, 200 Ton. Some large versions do exist.
For high pressure presses, there are knuckle joint and hydraulic. For example, we once had a 4,000 Ton Knuckle Joint Bliss press that was used for stamping coins. It was a multi-million dollar machine. Forging presses can have huge capacities. The biggest versions are typically used for stamping large aerospace parts. The can be 50,000 Tons or more. Most won’t be using those in their manufacturing environment. Although they are very interesting machines.

Some of the most popular press brands are Minster and Bliss. Bliss made all kinds of machines and are probably the most common. They made an excellent machine. Minster is known for their high quality and reliability. Of course, this makes them more sought after and expensive. Japanese brands have also become popular. Komatsu and Aida make very good presses with a wide lineup of capacities and types.
